When rod metering systems come into operation in paper industry, the name Horst Sprenger is often mentioned. In the past years and decades our metering rods and rod beds have set standards in quality, durability and reliability. Currently, improved surfaces further reduce material wear and thus allow a higher overall quality.
2. Scope of Supplying

2.1. Metering Rods - The rod is designed to withstand long-term loads despite the corrosive effects over a large surface area. Additionally, the linear load of the rod is balanced between the paper surface and the rolled reel, preventing deformation of the rod and extending the lifespan of the roll’s cover.
Various types of metering rods are coated/plated depending on specific application requirements:
* Chrome coatings – the most economical solution for many applications
* Ceramic surfaces – for sophisticated processes with abrasive effects
* Carbide – when homogeneity and wear resistance are crucial

2.2. Rod Beds - Combisystem is one of the optimal designs for maximum operational efficiency and significant reduction in wear and tear when applying coating.
Using PE (Polyethylene) as the material for the support of the measurement rod (combisystem) is currently considered an optimal choice. The specific production method and material properties provide various advantages.
Depending on the material, there are different manufacturing processes for the support:
PU and rubber = casting or molding process
PE = usually milling and turning process.

2.3. Couplings - QUICK AND RELIABLE ROD CHANGE
Changing metering rods on running machines is comparable to a Formula 1 pit stop: everything must be done as quickly as possible. Because during a rod change, each additional minute results in increased waste. For this reason, so-called quick couplings are applied, though they do not always live up to their name. Frequently they involve conventional quick couplings from other branches of industry.
